The Boy Who Lived??

Rowling announced that at least two main characters will die in the final book. Who do you think they will be and how do you think they will die?

I think Snape is going to die saving Harry's life or die doing something that makes it possible for Harry to beat He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named!

I'm not sure who else...I really hope its NOT Harry, Ron, or Hermione.

I think Snape is a good guess. While I'm still in the "trust Snape" camp, it seems appropriate in a karmic way. I'm doubtful that it will be Harry, as that might turn people off -- and there are more movies to come!

I agree that Snape will probably die while saving Harry's life. It's hard to guess who else! I know who I *don't* want to see die!

I agree that Snape is going to be one of them. I also agree that he will end up to be in the "good guys" camp. Dumbledore would not trust him otherwise. (ooops, a slip...I don't believe he's really dead either) I don't think Harry will die, but not because of more movies. Just too much at stake in your basic good vs. evil battle.

New thought: after hearing an interesting talk about the role of classical alchemy in the books, I think that, in addition to Voldemort and Snape, there's another logical candidate to die, one that will make the us sad: Hagrid.

The reason is that Harry's father died, and Harry's other surrogate fathers (Sirius & Dumbledore) have also died. Further, in alchemy, there are three phases: black, white and red, corresponding to Sirius BLACK, ALBUS Dumbledore and RUBEUS Hagrid. Interesting idea...

I think that it will be Neville--he will die fighting against the Dark Side, and that Lord Voldemort will die because of him.

He's become more important as the series goes on, and I don't think Harry, Ron or Hermione will die.

Hagrid seems a good candidate too. But it may be lots of people will die. She only said "at least two major characters", right? Starting on a re-read of Half-Blood Prince tonight...

I'm really hoping Harry and Snape don't die, as they are my favorite characters! I think they are the most likely to die, though, plus Voldemort.

There was a very interesting article in a recent issue of Maclean's magazine on this topic. It's a bit too long to summarize, so check it out. (I don't remember the exact date, sorry...)

Here's what I think will happen -- Rowling will make Harry turn evil and not only will he die by the end of the book, but you will be happy that he does!! Someone else will be the hero.

Snape is one of my favorite character's too. I don't want him to die but I think he needs to.

I think the idea of Harry turned evil is an interesting one but I don't think it will happen.

What about draco? He didn't do what the dark lord ordered him to do (snape did)---I could see the dark lord killing him for the failure.

Another idea is that one of weasely's will die (not ron), but one of the twins or Ginny. They are family to Harry and that would hit hard.

Concerning Malfoy, I believe that he will be redeemed in the next book--his inability to kill Dumbledore and his vunerability (i.e. bathroom crying) make it seem likely that he is not really as evil as his father. That in mind, I think that he might be one of the doomed characters...along with Snape (who will also be redeemed).
